Create Healthier Lifestyle Habits that Stick

It’s no secret that maintaining a healthy, balanced diet and keeping active is vital for the maintenance of good health. That’s why Sonder is proud to announce the launch of its new healthy lifestyle program, Healthy Habits.

The innovative program, funded by the Country SA Primary Health Network creates opportunities for people living in regional and rural communities across South Australia to get involved in healthy eating and exercise activities, for free.

The program’s friendly facilitators guide participants through group-based exercise and nutrition programs, personalised to meet their individual goals.

“Our Program Facilitators are experts on the health needs of people in their local communities. They are incredibly well equipped to provide targeted programs which enable people to improve their knowledge and skills about healthy eating and exercise”, said Elsie Patterson, Sonder’s Health Promotions Coordinator.

In addition to individual and group-based exercise and nutrition programs, participants will also be able to access individual allied health services, such as dietetics, exercise physiology and physiotherapy, as well as health coaching and mental health services to support them to improve both their health and wellbeing in a holistic way.

Healthy Habits is delivered from community and fitness centres in locations across country South Australia, including Yorke Peninsula, Clare, Port Lincoln, Port Augusta, Port Pirie and Whyalla. Some elements of the program are delivered face-to-face by local allied health professionals whilst others are delivered via telehealth by a range of qualified health professionals.

Healthy Habits Program Facilitator, Rebecca Niejalke is excited about the opportunity to provide greater access to healthy lifestyle services for people in her community.

I believe Healthy Habits will be a much needed step in the right direction for conversations about our health and wellbeing and provide our community with a healthier future. Through this program, I hope participants learn to reach out when needed and look after their physical health, mental health and resilience.
