2024–25 Annual Report

2024–25 Annual Report

We are proud to announce the release of Sonder’s 2024–25 Annual Report.

This year’s report details a period of significant transformation and renewal across the organisation, defined by financial and systems resilience, innovation, and continued dedication to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for South Australians.

Over the past year, Sonder supported almost 19,000 individuals – more than ever before, expanding its reach across metropolitan and regional communities. The report highlights a renewed focus on stability, innovation, and sustainable growth, demonstrating how the organisation has emerged from a period of repair stronger and better positioned to deliver on its purpose.

The first half of 2024–25 was focused on rebuilding and refining financial systems and operational frameworks for long-term security. These efforts have delivered greater financial clarity, streamlined processes, and improved efficiency. With these foundations in place, the second half of the year marked a shift towards growth and alignment, including the amalgamation of the Community Services and Innovation & Excellence portfolios, bringing together data-driven approaches that are already enhancing service delivery and rebuilding funder confidence.

Several new programs also commenced throughout the year. A standout achievement was Sonder’s collaboration with NINI (lead agency) and OARS Community Transitions in establishing the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre. While full implementation is scheduled for 2025–26, the success of this partnership underscores Sonder’s commitment to building cultural capability and supporting Aboriginal communities through culturally responsive care. Looking ahead, Sonder is preparing to deliver the Inclusive Employment Australia program as a specialist provider for people living with mental health challenges. We look forward to leveraging our significant expertise in mental health and employment support as we implement this new service.

Financially, the organisation has achieved a return to an operating surplus, reflecting effective financial stewardship and resilience in a sector challenged by rising costs and consolidation pressures. Innovation has also been a defining feature of the year, with Sonder beginning to explore the potential of generative artificial intelligence in clinical and therapy settings, carefully balancing innovation with robust governance and ethical oversight.

The 2024–25 Annual Report is available in an interactive digital format, offering readers an engaging way to discover Sonder’s achievements, partnerships, and progress. We invite you to explore the report and learn more about how Sonder is strengthening its future while continuing to make a difference in the lives of South Australians.
