Updates to membership structure
Following a thorough governance review and a resolution passed at a Special General Meeting on 9 July 2024, Sonder has implemented changes to its constitution that affect our membership structure.
Sonder was first established in 1993 as the Northern Division of General Practice. Over the past 31 years, the organisation has broadened its scope, now providing primary health and community services throughout South Australia across seven key domains – mental health, homelessness, Aboriginal health, alcohol and/or other drugs, employment, community health and disability.
With the support of our Members, Sonder has made changes to its membership structure. We will continue to retain two classes of membership but have transitioned our Board of Directors to Primary Membership status. This change enables our organisation to have diverse representation, integral to Sonder’s service delivery profile. All former Primary GP Members have transitioned to Associate Member status.
We opted to retain our Associate Membership as we believe continuing our relationship with diverse health and community services professionals is integral to our organisation’s purpose of delivering high-quality, integrated services.
Becoming an Associate Member of Sonder is free and open to all professionals in the health and community services sector.
The benefits of this membership include:
- Shared advocacy and leadership within the health and community services sector.
- Shared information and resources.
- Integration of services and inter-referral pathways.
- Access to Sonder’s quarterly e-newsletter.
- Invitations to Sonder’s Annual General Meeting Gala Dinner.
- Invitations to networking events.
- Invitations to community events such as Closing the Gap Day.
- Invitations to Research & Evaluation Symposiums.
- Opportunity to join committees of Sonder.
