Sonder is excited to celebrate Smart Eating Week from 10-16 February 2020, an initiative supported by the Dietitians Association of Australia
This campaign, run by Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs), is dedicated to inspire and support all Australians to make smarter eating choices.
Eating well is key in keeping your body healthy and strong, to make sure you have enough energy to feel your best every day.
Did you know it also plays an important role in improving your sleep, mood and concentration, and your overall mental health?
How can I make smarter eating choices?
One of the best ways to eat well is to pack your own healthy lunch for work. Not only can it improve your work performance, but it can also help your bank balance. It doesn’t have to be complicated, and with some meal ideas up your sleeve, you’re already on the way to making smart eating choices.
- Leftovers: Purposely cook too much for dinner so you can enjoy a stress-free lunch the next day. Turn your roast chicken on Sunday to a chicken salad on Monday.
- Sandwiches and wraps: Easy and convenient, these lunch staples can be thrown together with a range of fillings. Try swapping your bread from white to wholemeal or wholegrain. Include a source of protein (e.g. cheese, egg, chicken, beef or canned tuna) and pack as much vegetables in as you can.
- Pasta: This is another budget staple that can be reheated, or served cold in a salad. Experiment with different sauces and add lots of vegetables to keep things interesting.
- Have fruit on hand: Buy a range of your favourite fruits for the week to enjoy at work. Healthy snacks will help you push through an afternoon slump. Other snack ideas include carrots and hummus, un-salted popcorn and low-fat yoghurt.
