What to expect

  • Support when you need it

We’ll take the time to understand what’s going on for you and how we can help right now. You’re welcome to return whenever you need us.

  • Tailored support

If needed, you may be offered a number of therapy sessions with a mental health professional to support your recovery.

  • A guiding hand

We’ll help you find and connect with the right services for your unique needs and goals, including support beyond our service.

  • Understanding and empathy

Many of our team members have personal experience with mental health challenges, so they understand what you may be going through.

Culturally-safe support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals

At Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre, you can access support from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peer Practitioner. They provide a safe and welcoming space to yarn, reflect, and receive guidance grounded in cultural knowledge and lived experience.

An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peer Practitioner can help you:

  • Strengthen your social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Cope with stress, overwhelm, or life pressures.
  • Build confidence and resilience.
  • Connect with culture, family, and community.
  • Access other culturally-safe services and supports.
  • Navigate the mental health system in a way that feels comfortable and safe.

Please note: the Centre currently has one female-identifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peer Practitioner. When the practitioner is not available, our broader peer and clinical team remain on site and can provide immediate, person-centred support to all guests.
