Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre to expand across two locations
From late August 2026, the Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre will operate across two locations in Elizabeth, making it easier for people to access the right support at the right time.
The new location at Oldham Rd, Elizabeth South will provide walk-in mental health support for people experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress, while the existing location at Gillingham Rd, Elizabeth will continue to provide booked appointments for short to longer-term mental health support.
Together, the two locations provide a broader continuum of care, helping ensure people can access the support that best meets their needs.
Walk-in mental health support at Oldham Rd
The new Oldham Rd location will provide free walk-in mental health support for people seeking immediate assistance with their mental health and wellbeing. No appointment or referral is required.
Whether you’re going through a difficult time, feeling overwhelmed, or simply unsure where to turn, our team can provide immediate support, help you understand your options and connect you with the most appropriate ongoing care where needed.
The team can also help connect people with a range of health, social and community services, including alcohol and other drug services, employment services and other psychosocial supports.
Short to longer-term mental health support continues at Gillingham Rd
The Gillingham Rd location will remain open and continue to provide short to longer-term mental health support through booked appointments.
Support available includes:
- Peer support.
- Psychological therapy.
- Counselling.
- Clinical care coordination.
- Safety planning.
- Group-based therapy.
Appointments can be accessed through referral from a health professional or by completing the online referral form available at sonder.net.au/medicare-mental-health.
If you are already receiving support through the Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre, you do not need to take any action. Your care team will contact you if any changes affect your appointments.
Co-located with the Crisis Stabilisation Centre
Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre at Oldham Rd will be co-located with Sonder’s new Crisis Stabilisation Centre, a separate 16-bed, brief-stay mental health service for people experiencing significant emotional distress who require more intensive therapeutic support.
While the two services provide different types of support, their co-location creates more seamless pathways between services, helping people access the most appropriate care based on their needs.
Information for referrers
Referral pathways remain unchanged. Health professionals should continue to submit referrals via the existing online referral form, available at sonder.net.au/medicare-mental-health.
People experiencing a mental health crisis or significant emotional distress who do not require an emergency response can attend the Oldham Rd location directly for walk-in mental health support. No appointment or referral is required.
