Mental health workshops for football clubs

Mental health workshops for football clubs

Sonder-operated headspace Centres, including headspace Adelaide, headspace Edinburgh North, headspace Marion and headspace Onkaparinga, have joined the AFL as a delivery partner for the Movember Ahead of the Game (AOTG) program in community football clubs across Adelaide.

Designed for young players and umpires, aged 12 – 18 years, parents and coaches, AOTG workshops aim to build mental health literacy and resilience within our local clubs and communities.

Why get involved?

  • Free and accessible: Participation in AOTG is completely free.
  • Skill building: Players learn essential skills to stay mentally fit and resilient, recognise warning signs, and support their teammates.
  • Support for coaches, volunteers and parents: Gain insights and strategies to better understand and manage mental health issues within the team.
  • Community bonding: Build camaraderie and mutual support throughout your club.
  • Equal opportunity: Workshops are available for both young boys and girls.
  • Expert facilitators: our engaging facilitators bring a wealth of experience and energy to each session.

What is involved?

  • Sessions are 45-60 minutes long, with player workshops divided into two parts.
  • Workshops are designed to be delivered to groups of 8 – 25 participants. Groups can be combined to meet this minimum.
  • Workshops can be scheduled before, after, or in place of regular training, depending on what suits your club best.
  • We provide all necessary materials to promote the workshops throughout your club, including social media content.
  • Our AOTG Coordinator will coordinate all workshops with our friendly team of facilitators, ensuring a smooth and easy experience for your club.
