Kickstart your health with Sonder
Following the successful application for Wellbeing SA’s Chronic Disease Integrated Partnership Grants, Sonder is pleased to announce an exciting expansion to its suite of community health services aimed at supporting individuals living with or at risk of developing chronic conditions.
Throughout Australia chronic conditions are the leading cause of illness, disability and death, with almost 20 percent of South Australians living with more than one chronic condition between 2018 and 2021.
Many chronic conditions are caused by key risk behaviours. By making healthy lifestyle choices, individuals can reduce the likelihood of developing a chronic condition and improve their quality of life.
Elsie Patterson, Sonder’s Health Promotions Coordinator explains “Ensuring a healthy, balanced diet, keeping active and managing both stress and sleep is vital for the maintenance of good health and helps to prevent, delay, and manage chronic conditions.”
We understand that maintaining healthy eating and exercise habits is not always easy. That’s why we are delighted to partner with Flinders University on the delivery of our new and exciting program, Kickstart Your Health, aimed at supporting individuals to kick-start their personal journey towards better health.
Flinders University’s Olivia Farrer added “Kickstart Your Health is a student-led, group education program, aimed at helping people develop healthier behaviours to enable them to both prevent and manage chronic conditions.”
“Throughout the course of 6 weeks, our student facilitators guide program participants through weekly exercise and lifestyle education sessions, personalised to meet the individual needs of each group.”
Kickstart Your Health is provided at no cost and delivered by an interdisciplinary group of allied health students from Flinders University, supported closely by senior Clinical Supervisors.
