Sonder’s In-Home Withdrawal Service recognised for excellence

Sonder’s In-Home Withdrawal Service recognised for excellence in treatment and support

Award highlights innovative approach to recovery

Sonder is thrilled to announce that our In-Home Withdrawal Service has been awarded the prestigious ‘Excellence in Treatment and Support’ Award at the South Australian Network of Drug & Alcohol Services (SANDAS) Annual General Meeting and Awards night on Wednesday 27 November 2024. This significant recognition recognises the innovative and life-changing work being delivered by the program.

The ‘Excellence in Treatment and Support’ Award celebrates programs or services that have made an extraordinary contribution to treatment and support efforts for Australians affected by alcohol and other drug use. Winning programs must demonstrate evidence-based practices, address critical gaps in service delivery, and go above and beyond standard operations.

The judges praised Sonder’s In-Home Withdrawal Service for its multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach tailored to the unique needs of its clients. The program was highlighted for its groundbreaking relapse prevention component, described as a first-of-its-kind model in South Australia and potentially across Australia.

One judge remarked:

It bridges a critical service void, empowering individuals to achieve recovery in a more supportive and accessible manner.

The program has significantly increased access to detox and withdrawal services, particularly benefiting individuals who cannot attend inpatient programs for various reasons.

Debby Kadarusman, AOD Services Manager at Sonder, shared her thoughts on the achievement:

Receiving this award is a testament to the dedication and compassion of our team. Our focus has always been on creating not only accessible but sustainable pathways to recovery, and this recognition reinforces the importance of the work we do. We’re incredibly proud to support individuals on their journey to overcoming substance dependence in a way that meets their needs and empowers them for lasting change.
