headspace Work & Study

For young people aged 12-25.

Do you need help finding work or starting your study journey?

headspace Work & Study is an entirely voluntary service and is not connected to Centrelink Job Service Providers.

Our Employment Specialists will provide one-on-one support to help you find work or study opportunities. They will work with you along the entire journey both before and after you gain employment.

What kind of work or study you do and how much support you receive is entirely up to you!

What do we offer?

    We'll help you identify the job or study pathways right for you, assist with writing resumes and prepare for interviews.

    Our Employment Specialists will work with your Mental Health Clinician at headspace to ensure you receive the best support.

  • Youth-friendly environment

    Our friendly staff will provide you a safe, confidential and judgement-free service.

  • Enitrely voluntary service

    Our service is voluntary and free to access. You can work with both headspace and other job services.

Accessing this service

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for headspace Work & Study you must;

  • Be a young person aged 15-25 who is experiencing mental illness;
  • Be an eligible client of headspace Edinburgh North or headspace Onkaparinga;
  • Have employment, education or training goals and be facing barriers to achieving these goals; and
  • Be willing to participate in the service and able to make an informed decision to participate.

Who are the headspace Work & Study staff?

The headspace Work & Study staff are skilled Employment Specialists and Mental Health Clinicians.

Your Employment Specialist will guide you along the entire journey to employment or study and provide help as needed. This could include completing vocational assessments to identify jobs or study pathways, helping with writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews and speaking to employers or education providers to identify potential job and study opportunities.

Your Mental Health Clinician will continue to work with you to improve your health and wellbeing.

How do I access the service?

To access the service, you must already be a client of headspace Edinburgh North or headspace Onkaparinga.

All you need to do is speak with your Mental Health Clinician and let them know that you want some help looking for work. Your Clinician will then make a referral on your behalf and someone from the Employment Support team will contact you to arrange a first appointment.

Booking an appointment with headspace is as simple as phoning or emailing your nearest headspace centre to find a time that suits you.
