Doors Open at New Sonder Onkaparinga Centre
A new Sonder Centre at Christies Beach, Onkaparinga is now open and offers a range of services for young people living in South Adelaide.
Our Onkaparinga team is here to answer any questions or concerns young people may have about their emotional wellbeing. All services delivered at Sonder Onkaparinga are free, confidential, judgement-free and youth-focused.
Services available at the Centre include the emerge program, which is funded by the Adelaide Primary Health Network (APHN). emerge is designed for young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing mental health concerns that are significantly impacting their life. The program is designed to be a ‘step-up’ service from support offered at headspace Onkaparinga, located just 2 doors down.
The Centre also provides outreach capacity for the headspace Adelaide early psychosis program. The headspace Adelaide early psychosis program is also funded by the APHN and provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing first episode psychosis/or at risk of psychosis.
At Sonder Onkaparinga, young people can expect to receive professional counselling and support from a friendly team of Clinicians, Care Coordinators, Medical Staff, Functional Recovery Workers and Peer Support Workers with lived experience of mental illness. The team work together to organise care around the young persons’ needs and help them to achieve their goals.
To engage in the emerge program at Sonder Onkaparinga, young people can give the Centre a call on (08) 8186 8600 and speak to one of our friendly team members about how to make an appointment. Sonder Onkaparinga is located at 5/50 Esplanade, Christies Beach. The Centre is wheelchair accessible and there is plenty of parking available on Beach Road.
Our opening hours are 9 am – 5 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 10 am – 6 pm on Tuesday.
