Diversity and inclusion training for RTOs
Sonder is excited to announce a new diversity and inclusion training program tailored for individuals working in Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). This initiative, funded by Skills SA, aims to enhance inclusivity within learning and workplace environments.
With initiatives like Fee Free TAFE increasing access to education, the diversity of students, apprentices and trainees within RTOs is growing. These changes highlight the need for educators and leaders to strengthen their capacity to support diverse cohorts. By investing in tailored training, RTOs can reduce student withdrawals, improve engagement, and foster a more productive and harmonious learning environment.
About the training
Our training program is designed to empower RTOs to implement inclusive practices and processes effectively. Through a series of targeted workshops, participants will gain practical skills to address gaps in their workforce and build stronger connections with diverse communities.
The training focuses on three core areas:
- LGBTIQA+ inclusion – Foster an inclusive learning environment where LGBTIQA+ voices are heard and respected.
- Cultural diversity – Encourage understanding and celebration of different cultural backgrounds.
- Mental health awareness – Create psychologically safe learning spaces where people experiencing mental health challenges feel supported and comfortable to express themselves.
Each workshop is informed by lived experience, ensuring participants receive meaningful, relatable insights that drive impactful change. The training is free for eligible participants, making it an accessible opportunity for RTOs looking to enhance their inclusivity efforts.
Eligibility
To participate in this program, you must be an:
- RTO with a Funded Activities Agreement (FAA);

What is an FAA?
A Funded Activities Agreement (FAA) allows RTOs to deliver subsidised accredited training in South Australia. To check whether your RTO is eligible, visit the Skills SA website.
