Join us on Kaurna Country for a day packed full of connection, entertainment and fun
Thursday 21 March, 10 am – 2 pm, Adelaide Showground
Closing the Gap Day is a free community event that celebrates First Nations’ cultures, promotes equality, and fosters inclusivity.
For over a decade, Closing the Gap Day has held a significant place in the hearts of our community, drawing in up to 3,000 people and over 100 exhibitors each year.
This year’s event, proudly presented by Sonder and Nunkuwarrin Yunti in partnership with Northern Adelaide Local Health Network, promises to be the most spectacular yet.
Sponsored by Indigenous Allied Health Australia, Aboriginal Family Support Services, We Create Print Deliver, Adelaide PHN and AGL, Closing the Gap Day 2024 offers a unique opportunity for community members to connect with product and service providers that can support their needs in aged care, education, employment, housing, healthcare and much more.
Beyond networking and making meaningful connections, attendees can look forward to a fun day filled with entertaining activities for all ages.
What’s on at Closing the Gap Day 2024?
Inside the Jubilee Pavilion, Kevin Kropinyeri, high-energy comedian and event MC will guide an exciting program of First Nations’ music and dance performances, including a set by talented artist, Sonia Smith.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to browse an extraordinary array of arts, crafts and textiles available for purchase at the First Nations Marketplace. Young people can enjoy various interactive games, quizzes and activities related to social and emotional wellbeing awareness in the expanded Youth Zone.
Beyond the pavilion, there will be opportunities to meet and greet sporting icons, take part in sports workshops and get to know local emergency service workers. Attendees can do all this while enjoying a delicious lunch, tea, coffee, and other refreshments.
Exciting launch of new event artwork
2024 marks a significant milestone in the decade-long history of this South Australian event with the launch of new branding and incredible artwork designed by First Nations Artist, Pat Caruso from creative agency, We Create Print Deliver. The artwork, representing the strong partnership between event organisers and the significant impact of the event on local communities, will be unveiled on the day.
