Veteran Residential Mental Health Support

Mental health nursing support for veterans experiencing housing instability.

Veteran Residential Mental Health Support provides mental health nursing support for veterans experiencing housing instability and staying at Andrew Russell Veteran Living, RSL Care SA’s emergency accommodation facility.

Delivered by Sonder, the program provides personalised support during a resident’s stay to help improve mental health and wellbeing, strengthen stability, and connect residents with ongoing care and services beyond their time in emergency accommodation. Support is tailored to each person’s goals and needs, helping resident’s build confidence, access the right supports, and plan for longer-term wellbeing.

Upon arrival at Andrew Russell Veteran Living, residents will be connected with Sonder through the facility manager and offered support tailored to their needs.

What to expect

Each resident is supported by a Sonder mental health nurse throughout their stay. Support is personalised and shaped around each person’s needs, goals and preferences.

  • Understanding your needs

Your nurse will take time to understand your wellbeing, health, strengths and goals through a comprehensive assessment and work with you to develop a personalised support plan.

  • Regular support and practical strategies

You’ll have regular check-ins with your nurse to support your mental health and wellbeing, talk through challenges and develop practical strategies to support your health and recovery.

  • Connection to care and services

We’ll help you access the physical and mental health care, community services and other supports that are right for you, including referrals and coordination where needed.

  • Planning for ongoing support

We’ll work with you and other services involved in your care to strengthen your support network and help establish ongoing care beyond your stay.
