Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs are free, welcoming services providing early-intervention mental health and wellbeing support for children aged up to 12 years old, along with support for their families, carers, and kin.
Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs are designed to be calm, child-friendly spaces where families can talk openly about their child’s emotions, behaviour, or wellbeing.
Whether your child is experiencing big emotions, behavioural challenges, or family stress, our team is here to listen, support, and help you understand next steps.
Support is free, confidential, and tailored to the needs of each child and family.
What we offer
Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs offer:
- An initial conversation about what is happening.
- Care planning and practical advice.
- Short term counselling and psychological therapy.
- Mental health-focused allied health intervention.
- Group activities.
- Social and emotional wellbeing support.
- Peer support for caregivers.
- Support to connect with other health, community, and education services.
Our Kids Hubs teams include mental health clinicians from a range of disciplines, lived experience family peer practitioners, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social and emotional wellbeing workers, behaviour support practitioners, and cultural liaison workers. They combine lived experience, community knowledge, clinical knowledge, and cultural expertise to create spaces where families feel respected, understood, and safe. Accessing this service
If your child needs mental health or emotional wellbeing support, a professional may refer you to Southern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub at Marion or Aldinga. Referrals are accepted from GPs, paediatricians, schools, early childhood services, and other providers.
You can also request a referral for Kids Hub through the Medicare Mental Health Phone Service (1800 595 212).

Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs are not crisis or emergency services

Information for referrers
Referrals to the Medicare Mental Health Kids Hubs are accepted from GPs, paediatricians, schools, early childhood services, and other providers. The Kids Hubs work alongside existing care, supporting early intervention and continuity of care (with consent). Referrals can be submitted via our online form, via fax to (08) 8209 0723, or via HealthLink (EDI: sonderau). Please include referral letters and any relevant information e.g. Mental Health Treatment Plans.
