Sonder, ARA, and OARS CT to deliver specialist disability employment services as part of Inclusive Employment Australia
Sonder is proud to announce its appointment as a specialist service provider under Inclusive Employment Australia – a new initiative aimed at transforming employment outcomes for people with disability and those facing significant barriers to work.
Delivered through a consortium model, the initiative brings together three experienced South Australian organisations:
- Sonder will lead the delivery of the model and provide employment support for individuals experiencing psychosocial challenges.
- The Australian Refugee Association (ARA) will provide employment support for people from refugee backgrounds.
- OARS Community Transitions (OARS CT) will support individuals with a history of offending.
A key feature of the new Inclusive Employment Australia program is its commitment to engaging a broader and more diverse range of community-based providers with specialist expertise. This person-centred approach recognises that no two jobseekers are the same — and that sustainable employment outcomes are best achieved when services are personalised, inclusive, and grounded in the lived experiences of participants.
Sonder brings deep local knowledge and a strong track record in delivering evidence-based employment programs for priority cohorts. This includes delivery of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model through the headspace Work & Study program, which has helped hundreds of young people achieve their education and employment goals while receiving mental health support. Sonder also previously delivered the Employment Solutions program for migrants and refugees, further reinforcing its capacity to provide personalised, recovery-oriented employment support.
Sageran Naidoo, Chief Executive Officer of Sonder said the new partnership represents a significant step forward for inclusive employment in South Australia. “We know that employment is more than just a job — it is a connection, a purpose, and a pathway to improved mental health and wellbeing. We’re proud to be working alongside ARA and OARS to deliver a truly community-led model that meets the diverse needs of our clients, while also helping build more inclusive workplaces across Adelaide.”
Chris Chalubek, Chief Executive Officer of ARA highlighted the vital role of employment in supporting refugees. “Employment is a key factor in successful settlement and a catalyst that ensures refugees can break down the barriers that turn starting over into a struggle. We’re excited to bring our cultural expertise and deep understanding of the refugee experience into this collaborative model.”
Louise Kelly, Acting Chief Executive Officer of OARS CT emphasised the importance of ensuring that no one is excluded from employment opportunities. “We know the stigma and systemic barriers that exist for people exiting the justice system. This partnership ensures these individuals are not left behind and are given the support they need to gain employment and reintegrate into community life.”
More information about the Inclusive Employment Australia initiative and how to access support will be shared in the coming weeks.
