SMART Recovery

Free, online support groups that train you to champion your own behaviour change around alcohol and other drug use, gambling or any behaviour of concern.

Learn practical, evidence-based tools to manage behaviours of concern and move forward with your life in a way that works for you.

SMART Recovery meetings offer a supportive, online environment to achieve behaviour change goals of your choice around alcohol & other drug use, or any behaviours of concern, including cigarettes, gambling, food, shopping, the Internet, and others.

Meetings are free to attend and held weekly on Wednesdays at 7 pm, guided by trained peers and professionals. Participants set their own goals and path to success using a range of evidence-based tools and techniques.

    Build and maintain motivation with practical and evidence-based recovery tools.

  • Self-management

    Develop skills to manage thoughts, feelings and behaviour so you can cope with urges and cravings.

  • Harm minimisation

    Minimise harm and lead a balanced, healthier life.

  • No labels

    We do not use labels such as 'addict', 'alcoholic' etc.

Who is SMART for?

To be eligible for SMART, you must:

  • Be aged 18 years or over;
  • Live in regional South Australia and;
  • Be seeking to achieve change around a behaviour of concern.

What to expect

  • Weekly meetings, 90 minutes in duration
  • Run by a trained facilitator
  • Focus is on the addictive behaviour and not on the substance itself
  • Goal setting: Set your own achievable plan for the week ahead
  • Concentrate on the present and future, not on the past (no life stories!)
  • Evidence-based tools and techniques (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing)

How to get started

Getting started is easy! Online meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 pm.

To register your interest, please complete the form below and the meeting facilitator will send a confirmation email containing the Zoom link to attend.

For the best experience, it’s recommended to access meetings via a computer, tablet or smartphone. However, if you do not have access to a computer, you can join the meeting by dialling in with your phone via the specific phone number provided in your confirmation email.
